Case Study: Colorado DOT Fiber Duct Mapping
Review the mapped data and duct conditions discovered in Colorado through 3D gyroscopic mapping technology.
THE CHALLENGE
As Colorado’s Department of Transportation (DOT) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) focus on the future of fiber and their infrastructure, they need to know what exists today.
THE SOLUTION
Quickly and efficiently provide accurate mapping of fiber ducts, with the data necessary to inform utility contractors. Using 3D gyroscopic mapping technology we conducted a series of four pilot projects to showcase the capabilities, accuracy, and depth of information that can be captured:
PILOT #1: Map a straight segment with dual access points.
PILOT #2: Map a critical segment with tight bends.
PILOT #3: Map HDD and open trench pipe segment.
PILOT #4: Map pipe segments with a single access point.
RESULTS
Download the full PDF to get the data on each pilot mapping project, and see how 3D gyroscopic mapping provides accurate and reliable as-built maps for an enriched GIS database and more successful fiber installations.
